Belly may expect to live for about ten summers. Between the months of June and August, everything is conceivable. The only thing Jeremiah and Conrad can think about during the winter is how long it will be until they can return to the beach house, see Susannah, and spend time with their friends. These guys have been in Belly’s life from her very first summer, and they have filled several roles: role models, crushes, and brothers. At the end of one summer, a summer that is both terrible and wonderful, everything seems to fall into place.

Synopsis of the Book “The Summer I Turned Pretty”

The fact that I so really loved my first Jenny Han novel comes as a nice surprise. It was a lovely summer, and I became pretty that year. Despite my greatest efforts to avoid being emotionally affected by literature, this particular genre usually wins out. I think I may have met the ideal summertime love interest.

While reading this, I couldn’t help but think of E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars. It has a lot in common with the book in terms of themes like domestic strife and romantic tension. I enjoyed this book despite the increased prominence of the love triangle plot device. It’s hard to see anyone passing up the opportunity to read a narrative about two fascinating men who are both drawn to the same woman.

Everything in this book has captivated me. To my relief, Belly is not one of those annoying young adult female characters I usually see. Nope. One of my favourite things about her is how much she enjoys life and the company of others, especially Susannah.

I found Jeremiah’s and Conrad’s tales to be equally compelling. The boys’ allure and mystery drew me in from the first page. So much so that I couldn’t choose a preference between them to take home Belly. Whoa! The depiction of the love triangle is excellent.

In general, I think this book will provide you a lot of encouragement. If you haven’t already, you ought to do so without a doubt.

Conclusion

I wish I could give this book a perfect score, but I just can’t. Because it follows a love triangle plot, it is easy to see why this is a literary masterpiece. This is the book I read before I even realised what a book was, therefore I don’t care about any of that. This book was the impetus for me to become a voracious reader. The first time I picked up this book, it was well beyond my bedtime. This is the first book that I couldn’t put down once I started reading it. The emotional connection I have to this book from my early adolescence much transcends any issues I may have with the plot now.

Even after reading this book for the fifteenth time, I always take away new insights. They will seem like old friends right away. It’s as though I’ve always lived in the seaside house, and the words feel as natural to my mind as breathing. Even though it isn’t particularly good and represents the complete antithesis of my current reading tastes, I will always cherish this book as a symbol of my undying love for the written word.
