Wilbur Soot is a British online celebrity, Twitch streamer, and musician who goes by the moniker Will Gold. He rose to prominence in 2017 as the main editor and co-founder of the group comedy YouTube channel SootHouse, where he made recurrent appearances. In March 2019, he launched his own channel, Wilbur Soot. In January 2018, Gold released his debut song, “The ‘Nice Guy’ Ballad.” “Your New Boyfriend,” his sixth song, reached No. 65 on the UK Singles Chart. Gold is also a member of Lovejoy, a British indie rock band.
Creation of his YouTube Channel
Soot rose to prominence as an editor for the SootHouse YouTube group channel, which he co-founded with other buddies. The majority of the videos on the channel were response videos, with people debating memes and life hacks among other things.
On March 29, 2019, he launched Wilbur Soot, his primary channel. The channel focuses on video games, with the most popular being the 2011 sandbox game Minecraft. Gold also live streams on Twitch, where he has over 4 million followers as of September 2021, giving him the platform’s 37th most popular channel.
Joining the Dream SMP
In the year 2020, Gold joined the Dream SMP Minecraft server, which is operated by the eponymous YouTuber Dream and focuses on roleplaying. There, Gold established the imaginary country of L’Manberg and went on to become a key writer for the server’s tales.
Wilbur Soot has also taken part in a number of Minecraft competitions, including the MC Championships and Minecraft Monday.

In 2021, Gold established the indie rock band Lovejoy. Joe Goldsmith is the lead guitarist and songwriter, Mark Boardman is the drummer, and Ash Kabosu is the bassist. Gold is the singer, songwriter, and rhythm guitarist. The band released their first EP, Are You Alright?, on May 9, 2021. They debuted at number 10 on Billboard’s Emerging Artists list on May 20, 2021. Pebble Brain, their second EP, was released on October 14, 2021, and reached number 12 on the UK Albums Chart. In late 2021, Lovejoy released the single “Knee Deep at ATP,” which was a cover of a Los Campesinos! song from 2008. It was accompanied by an animated music video.
