They may have saved Crescent City, but they just want some peace and quiet after the recent chaos. After saving the city, Bryce Quinlan and Hunt Atahar are making every effort to get back to normal. Just relax. Master the art of making accurate forecasts.

The Asteri have been good to their word and have not bothered Bryce or Hunt up to this point. However, because the Asteri’s influence is being eroded by the rebels, the danger posed by the Asteri’s rulers is increasing. As Bryce, Hunt, and their other friends are drawn into the plots that the rebels are hatching, one of two options presents itself to them: either they remain silent while others are oppressed, or they fight for what is right. And maintaining silence has never been one of their strong suits.

In this enticing and action-packed sequel to her New York Times bestseller House of Earth and Blood, Sarah J. Maas spins a compelling narrative of a planet on the verge of bursting and the people who will do anything to save it.

House of Sky and Breath Book Summary

I’m not sure how I feel after finishing that huge book. To begin with, I would have given this book a higher rating if I hadn’t had the big surprise at the end spoiled for me by accident. However, because I had guessed correctly, the surprise ending didn’t work as well for me. I liked how the book jumped around to different people and gave us a glimpse into the story from their point of view (while still being told in the third person). I cared more about what happened to these people, and the plot seemed much more substantial. However, there were so many people in the novel that I had trouble keeping track of them, especially as secrets were being revealed near the end. It was confusing since I couldn’t keep track of who was who. It didn’t help that everyone had more than one name, and that other characters kept calling them by different ones.

However, the ending prevented me from awarding it a perfect score of five. When compared to the exciting conclusion of the first book, this one seemed a little lacklustre. Okay, so we did learn a lot, but I really missed all the insanity and excitement from the first book. There is a tremendous cliffhanger, and I’m worried for the characters’ futures, but I wasn’t as moved by the story as I had hoped to be. Even though I was engaged and interested in the plot the whole time, I felt that there might have been more of an impactful climax.
