The best friend-to-lover/fake dating romance in Before the Sunset by Laura Pavlov did my heart deliciously good. The path that led Reese and Finn to their happy ending was paved with moments of self-realization and the unveiling of long-repressed emotions. While part of a series, this novel can be read independently of the others in the Cottonwood Cove universe.
The audiobook featured a dual narration by Maxine Mitchell and Jacob Morgan. Maxine gave a moving rendition of Reese’s insecurities, fears, and desires. Additionally, Jacob lent handsome movie actor Finn an endearing, swoon-inducing charisma. The slow-building romance between two friends is brought to life by both narrators.
In sum, I thought this was a good read. You’ll love Finn and Reese’s story if you’re interested in a best friends-to-lovers romance featuring a handsome actor, a determined decorator, a small town, meddling loving families, fake dating, friends with benefits, super hot steamy times, getting revenge on an ex, learning the truth about oneself, unexpected surprises, and a happy ending that proves best friends make the best lovers. When Laura Pavlov releases new work, I eagerly await it.
