Karpatri Ji Maharaj (Swmi Karptr; 1907–1980), a monk of the Hindu dashanami monastic order, was born as Har Narayan Ojha in the village of Bhatni in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India. He was so named because he would consume only what came in his palm kara, as the bowl ptra.

Life

He was a Jyotirmath Shankaracharya Swami Brahmananda Saraswati’s student. He also founded the Dharma Sangha in Varanasi, where he lived for the majority of his life.

He was a Hindu philosopher who taught in the Advaita Vedanta tradition. Karpatri initiated him into Shaivite Hinduism, according to French indologist Alain Daniélou.

Swami Karpatri’s prominent student, Swami Nishchalanand Saraswati, is the 145th Govardhan Peeth Shankaracharya of Puri, Odisha.

Childhood days

Swami Karpatri had little interest in worldly issues as a child. In 1916, when he was nine years old, he married Srimati Mahadevi. Even after his marriage, he attempted but failed to leave his home in quest of the truth.

“I would allow you to leave home only if you become a father and give us a grandchild,” his father finally stated. He chose to leave his house after the birth of a female kid. His wife made a tremendous sacrifice for him. Finally, at the age of 19, Swami Karpatri left his house.

Education

In 1926, he enrolled in Sangved Vidyalaya and began his study. He passed the Madhyama Siddhanta Kaumudi of Grammar in 11 months, which normally takes approximately four years to complete.

Swami Vishveshvarashrama taught him Vedanta and other Darshanas after that. Swami Karpatri has exceptional learning abilities from the outset of his education. He was ordained as a Sannyasi after years of study, including three years in freezing caves in the Himalaya.

Swami Karpatri Death

He told his disciples to sing the “Ayodhya Tyaga” story of Ramayana for him on the day of his death in the year 1980 “Magh Shukla Chaturdashi,” He did the recitation of Sri Sukta himself, and at the end, while holding the idol of Krishna on his chest, He passed away by reciting “Shiva Shiva Shiva” thrice.

Swami Karpatri Cursed Indira Gandhi

According to a nonagenarian saint who took part in the 1966 Save Cow Movement in Delhi and now lives in Haridwar, Srimad Hariharananda Swami, also known as Karapatriji Maharaj, cursed Indira Gandhi for suffering the same destiny as a large number of Hindus killed by gunfire.

Indira Gandhi was assassinated in 1984 by her bodyguards, while Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in 1991 by an LTTE suicide squad.

So it is believed that Karpatri Ji Maharaj’s curse was effective.
