|Bellinger Sisters #1
|Hook, Line, and Sinker (PDF/ePub) By Tessa Bailey
The paparazzi are always on Piper Bellinger’s tail because she is both trendy and influential, and she has a reputation for being a bit of a wild child. After Piper’s arrest at the hands of the law for hosting a rowdy party on the roof, her stepfather has had enough. He finally gets tired of her and cuts her off, sending Piper and her sister to Washington to run their late father’s dingy bar.
Within the first five minutes of her arrival in Westport, Piper meets large, bearded sea captain Brendan, who predicts that she won’t stay more than a week away from Beverly Hills. Even if Piper is terrible at maths and has a fear of sleeping in a shabby flat with bunk beds, that is none of our business. How terrible could it be, anyway? She is set on proving to her stepfather, as well as the neighbourhood hottie and curmudgeonly, that she is more than just a lovely face.
But because the town is so small, she keeps bumping into Brendan. Even though they are very different, the lively lady and the rough fisherman can’t help but be attracted to each other. Piper especially doesn’t want to get close to a man who sails off into the sky for weeks at a time. As Piper makes new friends and gets used to life in Westport, she has second thoughts about going back to her cool, luxurious life. Los Angeles is calling her, but she may have already given her heart to Brendan and this town of memories.
A Hollywood “It Girl” is cut off from her wealthy family and exiled to a small Pacific Northwest beach town, where she comes to blows with a gruff, beautiful local who thinks she doesn’t belong in this rom-com from Tessa Bailey that takes inspiration from the television show Schitt’s Creek.

It Happened One Summer Book Summary
I devoured this book in one sitting. Books like this cause you to hold fictional male characters to an unrealistically high standard.
Honestly, do you think I should accept anyone other than a Brendan?
Someone like Piper is easy to write off since she is portrayed as an airhead who enjoys the finer things in life but also uses them as a smokescreen. She hid behind social media. Not that she has to be aware of it right away. However, comfort was found in such mode of living.
She is taken back to the little town where her father grew up after a traumatic event, and she finds herself completely out of place there.
though not for too much longer.
In remembrance of their late father, and as a means of processing painful memories and moving forward with their lives, Piper and Hannah have decided to reopen this pub. However, Piper comes to terms with her own complexity and the fact that she has let her social media presence dictate her life. I loved that she realised this on her own terms when she realised that the surface level wasn’t satisfying her anymore.
She eventually meets a man who fucking gets her. He can see right through the mask she’s been wearing for far too long, and it’s beautiful to see her defences give way.
