It’s possible to enjoy ***Corrupt without having read any of the other books in the series. False ending.

Corrupt Book Summary
What a messed up story! Still, I couldn’t stop reading. This twisted tale of misplaced anger and retribution was fantastic. Even though I completed this book hours ago, I’m still processing all I just read. I feel angry and conflicted about this. I’m also delighted for Rika and Michael.
Rika was Michael’s younger next-door neighbour and object of desire. She was off-limits because his younger brother was the favourite in the family. The more Michael saw the younger Lolita, the more he wanted her, but he knew he had to keep his distance.
Michael, Kai, Damon, and Will picked up some of the school’s basketball players while Rika, then 16y old, was in class. Michael and his buddies had left school, but they continued returning to organise hazing and other team activities while management looked the other way. After a class moment, Rika must abandon her “eager to please” nature and join Michael on his covert outing.
Though Michael and his pals piqued my interest, I couldn’t help but be repelled by them. What kind of a schmuck would go back to their high school in their thirties to harass students in their early teens? What else did they have to do besides relive their glory days of high school? I feel the need to point this up.
Whatever the case may be, Rika is happy to spend the evening with Michael and his pals. They congregate there, creating mayhem and destruction of property. Rika plays a series of “pranks” on Michael before they make out, and Michael promptly rejects her. She ends the night feeling dejected.
The following day, three of the four pals are arrested and taken to jail. Michael is the only one of his pals who hasn’t been caught and punished for their criminal activities. The footage they took of themselves committing these crimes are widely available online because of their stupidity.
The group of pals begins plotting their retribution, certain that Rika is the one who leaked the videos that led to their detention. They have three long years to plot their revenge while everyone but Michael languishes in prison. Now when the time is right, the group puts their plan into action.
I won’t go into too much detail, but let’s just say that the boys do some seriously sick stuff to Rika. The tale evaded confronting issues by only touching on them. It seemed that every time something terrible was about to happen to Rika, she would be spared at the last minute. Even while it’s frightening at times, it’s not quite as intense as other, darker tales of retribution.
From the beginning until around 75% in, I was totally immersed in the plot. The story’s resolution left me feeling let down when I was finally able to see it in a fresh light and hear the truths.
