Black Knight Book Summary
This book was D.E.V.O.U.R.E.D by me. It was so gorgeous it hurt. It’s no secret that I’ve been waiting for Xander and Kimberly’s story, and now that I’ve finally read it, I’m pleased to report that it completely floored me and brought me to ugly tears. The style of this book’s writing was unlike anything the author had done before. It had a mellower and more heartfelt tone. After understanding just how broken they were, my heart ached for them both, but Kim in particular.
Many distressing topics, including self-harm, emotional abuse, alcoholism, suicide, eating disorders, and bullying, are addressed in the book. So, remember these and take the author’s advice seriously.
If you’ve read the other books in the series, you know that these two are constantly at odds with one another. Why Xan is so cruel all the time, what occurred when they were young, all the tension between them. Clearly, neither of them had a pleasant home life. You’ll be a sobbing mess after all our queries are addressed.
I think this is one of the best lines in the whole book.
Kim’s mother and friends have been cruel to her and made fun of her body all the time. Xander was also one of the people who were hurting her. Before Xan stopped talking to her, they were inseparable best friends. She took full responsibility for his rejection because he was someone she had put her trust in. The only thing that gets her out of bed in the morning is her younger brother Kir, who was really CUTE. She will give up everything for him. They are very close, but her dad is often gone for work.
Seeing her in such anguish shattered my heart. I know what it’s like to be lonely and alone all the time; it’s no way to live. Xan’s erratic behaviour of both warmth and cold was contributing to her distress. When Xan hurt her, I became quite angry at him. But then the author revealed a major twist that I never saw coming. Things began to click into place.
